I’m not sure if I really like this, but Starbucks has redesigned their logo to mark their 40th anniversary. They are steering away from the company name and going with just the mermaid image. I don’t really have a problem with that part, seeing that the Starbucks brand is known well enough now that they can get away with just the mermaid. However, I’m not so sure about that mustard sea grass green they chose. I think it would’ve looked a lot more sophisticated and nostalgic if they used the rich dark brown. Or if they were going to stick to the green, use a darker green. What do you think? Look for the new logo in stores this coming March! via The Daily What

Let’s face it. Who actually enjoys making their bed every morning? This contemporary, innovative Zip Bed is designed by the Italian company Florida Furniture. I love the rounded corners. In the morning, just wake up, zip up, and get on with your day! It comes in three striking color combos: white/red, gray/red, blue/white.
I came across this awesome Canadian designer/artist, Sean D’Anconia a few weeks ago online. He creates the most incredible pop culture art and I LOVE LOVE LOVEEEEE his Sanrio-inspired prints! Sean was kind enough to send me some photos of his latest work. “KokeKokko is [his] favorite L.A. yakitori spot in the world so for their 23rd anniversary, [he] made this print showing the chef (Tomo-San) as HK along with the rest of the staff.” Thanks for sharing Sean and keep doing what you’re doing!
When I went shopping in Taiwan last Fall, I fell in love with the Rado watches. They’re simple, clean, and… I’m waiting for the right time to get one! Two weeks ago, I requested a catalog from them online and when I received it, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the packaging and design. They definitely did not cut corners with the heavy-stock paper, silver catalog jacket, and casing. I also love the use of “white” space on each page. They let the watch/picture speak for itself. As they say, “Less is More.” I agree! http://www.shoprado.us/

I’ve been furniture shopping lately. With a love for modern, contemporary designs, I paid a visit to BoConcept downtown Austin. LOVE LOVE LOVE their pieces! Wish I could buy the whole store! Everything there is customizable — of course, with a price! They gave a copy of their catalog when I entered the store. I got a hold of their catalog from last year so I was super excited to get the newest issue! They pretty much kept the same format, but did a few infographic-type designs which was cool. There’s awesome photography throughout, and the print quality on the white glossy, thick-stock paper allows the pieces to really come alive on paper. www.boconcept.us/
